🙏 ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲਾ ਤੋਂ ਭਾਵ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਵੇਲਾ, ਜੋ ਰਾਤ ਦਾ ਅੰਤਿਮ ਵੇਲਾ ਤੇ ਦਿਨ ਦਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤੀ ਵੇਲਾ | ਇਹ ਵੇਲਾ ਰਾਤ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਵਜੇ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਦਿਨ ਦੇ ਛੇ ਵਜੇ ਤੱਕ ਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ | ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਨੂੰ “ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ” ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

“ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਜੋ ਸਿਖੁ ਅਖਾਏ ਸੁ ਭਲਕੇ ਉਠਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਐ।।… ਗੁਰੂ ਗਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਅੰਗ 305 ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਿਫਤ ਸਲਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਦੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ। ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲਾ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਉ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ।। ਗੁਰੂ ਗਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਅੰਗ 2।ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਲਿਖਕੇ ਹਾਜਰੀ ਲਗਾਉ ਜੀ

AMRIT VELA, is the time of about three and three quarters of an hour before sunrise, say from about 2.15 AM to 6AM. Guru Nanak urged his disciples to get up at this auspicious time and recite God\’s name. Literally it means the “period of divine nectar” In this period of calm and peace, one can easily meditate on God and receive the divine blessing. In the Japji,Guru Nanak emphasise, the need of rising early for prayer. Due to the change of season and geographical location, Amrit Vela is likely to differ in various countries.

“Amrit vela Sachnaon Vadiai Vichar.”---(JAPJI SAHIB).

According to Guru Nanak:- At Amritvela, meditate on the True Naam and ponder over the majesty of the Lord.

- - Then ,surely,this simple,unadulterated and unambiguous message should have been ingrained in the heart of every Sikh and there should have been peace reigning in every home.Hasn’t the Guru also guaranteed thus: “Jaka meet sajan hai samia tis jankau kaho ka ki kamia.”

The one whose friend is the Lord Himself,can never have any wants .S.G.G.S.186

It is rather unfortunate that the most important lesson in Sikh spirituality is the meditation at ‘AMRITVELA’but despite so many assurances of its effectiveness and indispensability the Sikh world has,more or less,forsaken this valuable aid to spiritual awakening.According to Sukhmani sahib,uttered by 5th Guru.Sri. Guru Arjan Dev Ji.Name of Lord is “Parjat” the Elysian tree-the tree of paradise;The glorification of Lord is the Kamadhenu,the cow of plenty.The sermon about God is the best of all the speeches;By listening to Naam all pains and afflictions get removed;The glory about Naam abides in thr heart of saints;and with the power of saints all sins are eliminated;One with a great good fortune,obtains the company of saints and by serving them one is able to meditate on Naam;There is nothing equal to Naam in the world;O ,Nanak! A rare one,by surrendering to Guru,is able to obtain Naam.

In Kabir sahib’s words “Kabir man nirmal bhaya,jaise Ganga neer pachhe laago phire keht Kabir,Kabir.”

Says Kabir: My mind is now absolutely pure like Ganga water,God is now pursuing me and calling me to stop and wait for Him.

This morning’s Amritvela when we hear the sabad “VADIAI VICHAR” This is purely a grace and available to every sikh.In the Words Of 5th Guru.Guru Arjan Dev ji “Tum daate thakur pratpalak nayak khasam hamare.”(S.G.G.S-674.) You are the giver,my master,my leader,you are one who brings me up.I am your child,Lord ,bring me up every instant. Guru Arjan’s yearning to declare Him as the only comforting friend and his pleading “Kot pradh hamare khandau anik bidhi samjhawo” Lord ‘s gracious forgiving Nature,Forgives us. But Kabir says if the sikh himself is at fault-and continues to be at fault- what could satguru do “ Satgur poora kiya kare jan sikhan mein chook.”

Since I have thoroughly enjoyed the grace of the Lord and relished the beauty of ‘AMRITVELA’,let me plead with my fellow-Sikhs that this valuable gift of God should not be frittered away.Guru Ram Das 4th Guru signifies a Sikh through ‘Amritvela’ “ Guru Satgur ka jo sikh akhaye so bhalke uth har naam dhiyae” let us not deny that we are Guru’s Sikhs by denying ourselves the ‘Amrit’ of ‘Amritvela’ And let us be sure that Amritvela destroys our all hankering,all burning to live in peace and happine
